MidCurrent(John Likakis)给出的定义是:「The belly is the downstream bow the current pushes into your fly line, and it is what pulls the fly across the run and swims it broadside in front of a steelhead.」——线腹(belly,下弓)是水流在你的线上顶出的弓形,正是它把毛钩横着推过水趟、侧着游过钢头面前。

MidCurrent(Marshall Cutchin,高水钢头)写得很直白:「size the belly of your line to the current instead of trying to remove it」,并给出机制:「A bigger belly swings the fly faster; an upstream mend lifts the belly and lays it back upstream of the fly, which slows the swing and lets the fly sink.」——弓越大摆越快;上游 mend 把弓抬起来、铺回毛钩上游,摆就慢下来、毛钩也沉得下去。

Angling Active 的解释是压缩比:「Skagit lines compress the same weight into a length of around 25ft」(普通 shooting head 约 40 英尺),因此「much more powerful」,且「capable of carrying very heavy, fast sink tips and heavy flies over great distances」。它的适用场景写得很具体:「If the river is swollen after heavy rainfall or snowmelt, or you suspect fish are lying deep in fast water where a standard sink tip isn’t reaching, this is the time to consider a Skagit line.」

7 wt425–475 grains450–475 grains
8 wt475–550 grains500–525 grains
9 wt550–650 grains575–600 grains
10 wt650–750 grains675–725 grains

同文的两条经验:往 grain 区间偏重的一端取,「this will help aid casting efficiency and distance」;竿长与线重相关,「shorter rods (11–12 feet) typically require lighter Skagit heads… longer rods (13–15 feet) will handle heavier grain weights」。高水其实不必人人都上双手杆,MidCurrent 的替代方案是:「You can also start with a 9-foot 8-weight single-hand rod and an integrated sink-tip line.」

(MidCurrent):「A 10-foot T-11 covers medium depth and a 10-foot T-14 gets down through deep, fast, turbulent water.」——两者都挂在 500–575 grain 的 Skagit 头后面;同时强调「Keep the leader short, three to four feet of 12- to 16-pound fluorocarbon, so the fly does not ride up above the tip.」

31.3 mend

纪律甲(MidCurrent 高水文,择一而终): 「On a heavy fall flow, mending for steelhead is one firm upstream mend as the line lands, then steering the swing with the rod.」——落水时结结实实补一次上游 mend,其余交给竿尖操控。理由讲得很清楚:「Each mid-swing mend risks a sudden jump in the fly right when it is in front of a fish, and a following steelhead feels that hop and backs off.」具体做法是「lead the fly, with the rod tip pointed slightly downstream of it, to hold it broadside, and reach the rod toward the far bank to shed belly and slow the fly without another mend」——竿尖略在毛钩下游带住它、让它保持侧身,再把竿伸向对岸卸掉线腹。

纪律乙(MidCurrent 调速问答): mend 被列为五种常规调速法之首:「Mending is the most common way to adjust swing speed… an upstream mend will momentarily reduce tension and slow the swing down, while a downstream mend will increase tension and speed the swing up.」并建议「Make your mend early in the drift, right after the cast, for maximum effect on swing speed.」

Outdoor Canada(Scott Gardner)写得很明确:「The swing is limited, however, to water no deeper than six feet—any deeper and the fly won’t get down far enough during the swing.」

The Essential Fly(Andy Kitchener):「If you’re not touching fish, adjust depth first.」以及「First change depth/speed (tip or mend), then size, then colour/style.」——深度是第一个该换的变量,换完才轮到毛钩大小与颜色。

还有一条配套纪律(MidCurrent,高水):「Get the fly down with tip weight rather than a heavily weighted fly, which snags as it swings toward the shallow edge.」——深度交给沉头,不要交给毛钩配重;配重毛钩摆向浅边时最容易挂底。

MidCurrent 写:「As a fall river rises, steelhead slide off the mid-river lies and hold in the soft water: the inside seams of big bends, flooded grass and brush, and the slack right against the bank.」因此「a short line swung to the near seam is often the productive cast」——短线上近岸 seam,常常才是那天的有效抛法。水色也有一条门槛:「Wade in to your knees and look down; if you can still see your feet, the run is fishable. About a foot of visibility is the practical floor for swinging, and below roughly six inches it is better to move up to a clearer tributary or wait for the drop.」至于涨与退:「Fish the falling side of a rain event when you can. On rising water the fish are unsettled and moving; on falling water they have settled into new high-water lies and improving clarity gives them more time to react to the fly.」

(MidCurrent):「Steelhead are active from about 45 to 58°F and most aggressive around 50 to 55°F.」秋末水温掉到 upper 30s 与 low 40s 后,「the fish drop back to slower water and their strike window narrows, and a slow, controlled swing becomes the better call.」

步距(step)也随水温与浊度分档(MidCurrent):38–42°F 且水色浑时「step three to four feet between each cast」;水清且升到 mid-40s「open up to five or six feet」;暖而清的夏季「eight to ten feet is appropriate」。

Outdoor Canada 的说法是,swing 让「the fly is in action the entire time it’s in the water, making the technique a fast, efficient way to cover large sections of river with numerous fish-holding lies」,而且「It works in all types of water, from brisk riffles to slow pools, throughout the open-water season.」短出线让操作毫无压力:「Because flies are swung on a short line—typically 20 to 30 feet—and there’s no weight or bulky indicator on the leader, casting is a breeze.」

Wide Open Spaces(Jacob Sotak)点名了最佳水型:「swift riffles and broken water two to four feet deep」,特别是「a riffle that tumbles into a pool or has some other gradient of depth」,以及弯道缓流侧「the slack side of a bend in the river where the water runs fastest on the outside edge」——这三样恰恰是小溪流的默认地形。

他列举湿蝇最出色的条件:「when a river or stream is low, clear and the fish are easily spooked」,对策是「Wading slowly downstream with a long leader (10-12ft) with a wet fly or two can be your best chance at hooking into something during these conditions. Spring creeks are notorious for these water conditions and there have been days that I only caught fish using wet flies.」

Driftless 向导 John Van Vliet(Wet Fly Swing 播客)给的六条小水纪律,条条指向同一件事——别把自己暴露在鱼的视野里:「Stay stealthy and keep a low profile」「Watch birds to locate active hatches」「Stay off the beaten trails when possible」「Fish long, fine leaders and light tippet」「Don’t head for the truck just because it rains」「Mix up the times of day you fish familiar water」。同文给出的地理背景是:「Covering roughly 24,000 square miles across four states, it holds one of the highest concentrations of spring creeks in the world」。

反对方最直接的声音来自 Troutbitten(Domenick Swentosky)。文章开篇引了友人对「在清水低水里 down-and-across 摆线却号称死漂」的钓者的评语——「Old guys and idiots」;作者随即自我修正措辞为 misguided traditionalists,并亮明立场:「the bulk of good fly fishing for trout happens while working upstream — especially when the goal is a dead drift.」他并不否认自己会这么做:「there are times when I wade downstream and fish long swings with a wet fly or streamer — because that’s what turns the fish on that day.」

「if a fish eats downstream of our position, the best we can do is pull sideways (bankside) and hope the fly sets sideways into the trout」;「The current is working for the trout instead of against it.」——鱼咬在你下游时,你能做的只有横向拉,而水流站在鱼那一边。
上溯时人在鱼背后,而「trout face into the current and can’t see what’s behind them」;作者的对应原句是「we fish cleaner and spook fewer trout by approaching from behind」。
swing「works — sometimes and if done with considerable nuance beyond just swingin’ flies」——它有效,但只是在某些时候,且需要远超「把毛钩摆出去」的细腻度。

Hatch Magazine(George Daniel):「there are few times when wet flies will out produce nymphs. This is why I rarely stick to a rig with all wets.」

Troutbitten 自己给了折中方案:「fish upstream with dries (if fish are rising) or nymphs (if not), then fish back downstream with a small streamer or a pair of wet flies — best of both worlds」。Triple Haul 记录的是同一套时序,理由更实用:先上溯用干蝇或若虫钓完一段,「when I turn around to head back down river I will tie on a wet fly or two. Since I have already waded through the water the fish will be pretty wary of anything, so it is advantageous to fish downstream with a subtle wet fly.」——水已经被你踩过,鱼更警觉,此时一条不张扬的湿蝇从上游漂下去,反而是对路的呈现。

Orvis(Phil Monahan)记录的做法是:「instead of swinging the fly across the current, the anglers here, including Orvis’s Paul Proctor, target specific fish and cast the pattern upstream」,要点在「drifting the fly directly in the fish’s feeding lane, rather than swinging through it」。同文读者评论补上传统定位:「dead drift them like a dry sub surface」,并推荐 Sylvester Nemes 1978 年的《Fishing the Soft-Hackle Fly》。

MidCurrent 写得很清楚:「the step-down method works on rivers as narrow as 20–30 feet. Use a switch rod (10’6”–11’6”) or single-hand rod, shorten your casts to 30–40 feet, and use lighter sink tips (T-8 or T-10) sized to the water.」并补一句提醒:「Small-water swinging often requires more stealth but can be surprisingly effective on Great Lakes tributaries and small coastal streams.」

Triple Haul 的取向更轻:「A 8 1/2 or 9ft fly rod that is anywhere from a 2-6 weight will work」,作者偏好「as light a rod as possible so I can feel the subtle takes」;线则几乎只用一种——「A floating line is about all I use on rivers」。前导按用途分三档:swing 用「8-10ft in length and taper down to 4-6x tippet」;当干蝇用(钓易惊的鱼)「lengthen the leader to 9-12ft and taper it down to 5-7x」;high-stick 用「pretty short, around 6-9ft tapered down to 4-6x」。

Outdoor Canada 的器材观更简:「No special gear is required… though longer rods in the nine-foot range make it easier to control the line. Use a floating line and an eight- to 10-foot leader.」两蝇组在小溪流很常见:「Two-fly rigs are also effective with the wet-fly swing.」

毛钩一侧有一条来自 Fly Fisherman(Jonathan Wright)的经验:未配重、无珠头的软羽湿蝇在 swung 呈现下动作最自然——「Unweighted, non-beadhead patterns seem to have a more lifelike action with swung presentations.」其脉动纤维模仿的是「the shucked casing of an emergent insect being cast off in the middle of the water column」——水柱中段被蜕掉的那层壳。

Pocket water(口袋水,巨石阵之间的小块流水)的物理前提是地形。Sports Illustrated 的定义是「the water will be chock-full of boulders」,而且「The pockets that are created in these boulder gardens are typically not very big, so you’ll often be working with short drifts」——小块、短漂程、乱流。

该文作者的首选并不是湿蝇,而是干蝇带坠组(dry dropper rig):「a large indicator fly trailed by a fast-sinking nymph opens you up to both surface and subsurface eats, and it drifts particularly well through inconsistent currents.」他还给了季节:pocket water 的黄金期是盛夏水温高的时候,「Warmer water pushes trout out of the slower pools and runs to the river sections with faster-moving, oxygen-rich water.」

flyfishing.co.uk 论坛(2025 年帖)上的一句是:「A streamer pulled past the pocket, or swung above it can be absolutely deadly.」——从口袋旁边拉过去、或在它上方摆过去,都可能极其致命。上游蛛形毛钩(spider)是英国 pocket water 的主流做法:「I’ll fish a pair, close together (maybe 8-12” between the point and dropper on a very tight short line with my spider rod」;线量上限定得很死:「Maximum amount of line two rod lengths upstream.」还有一种「duo(干蝇+若虫)」的霰弹打法:「a duo setup, and a shotgun approach, couple of casts in the pocket, couple above, letting the flies follow the seam, and move on」——打两竿就走。

回报面(Fly Guys n Lies):pocket water「holds more trout than many other parts of the same river, is generally under-fished, and the broken surface lets anglers get very close without spooking fish」;鱼也更不挑:「Trout in pocket water tend to be less selective and more aggressive than pool fish… They have to be—food whips past quickly, and they don’t have time to examine every morsel.」

Pocket water 里最接近「微摆」(micro-swing)的成文描述,来自 Montana Outdoor 转述 Field & Stream(Dave Hurteau)的打法:「Wade close, cast above the seam with a flick of the wrist, and high-stick the flies through the sweet spot before letting them swing.」——走近、腕力把毛钩甩到 seam 上方、先高竿带过最好的那一小段,然后才放它摆出去。它的前提是:「Because conflicting currents will ruin long drifts, success depends on close-quarters fishing.」高水的价值也被点明:「High water pushes active, hungry trout into the soft pockets right next to the fast seams… Pocket water rewards raw hustle over delicate precision.」

第二种做法来自 MidCurrent(John Likakis)的「straight-out」喂线法:把线从轮上以四英寸一段(pulling line off his reel in four-inch strips)连续喂出去,让毛钩「danced its way down the river」,并用「moving his rod tip from side to side or tossing small mends left or right」把它导进好点。这种出线方式造成的摆被形容为「a mini-swing that fish find irresistible」;历史上「This was the preferred way to get a fly into snags or down to fish at the lower ends of pools.」作者用这招在康涅狄格一条小河的大潭里连起十几条鱼——而此前他「streamers and nymphs through that water countless times and had come up blank」。

第三种是 The Triple Haul(Marc Fryt)的障碍物停摆:「One of my favorite techniques is to swing a fly in front of log jams and then hold the fly in position just in front of the logs. Fish can be stacked up in these places and it is difficult to get any fly in front of their faces, but this technique seems to work best for me.」他还补了一层动作:「I will also hold the fly in position for as long as I can while gently gliding the fly side to side in front of the logs.」——横向滑动的停摆,比静止的停摆更像活物。

GB Fly Casters(Harris)的《High Sticking Debunked》连术语都反对:「during the drift the rod should be held almost horizontal, not high」;做法是「Lob the fly upstream(“Look, Point and Push”), lift the rod to lift line off the water, and lead the fly downstream without mending」;节奏是「A typical pocket-water drift is about ten feet and five seconds.」;竿尖保持在毛钩下游「so the hookset is downstream and low」,打滑时毛钩还在水里,可以直接「lob straight back into the pocket」;该文并主张「Mending is unnecessary and can hurt in pocket water」。

把湿蝇直接挂进若虫钓组的做法,证据来自 Hatch Magazine(George Daniel):他「I’ll tie a wet fly off the bend of a nymph」,配重是「split shot (size/amount depending on water depth/speed) approximately 8-10 inches above my sulphur nymph」,再从若虫钩弯接「12-16 inches of tippet」绑上「the yellow Puff Daddy」。钓法是先上溯抛投死漂,当毛钩漂到正侧方时「slowly elevate the rod tip」收掉余线,然后「keep the rod tip pointed in the direction of the line and/or leader on the water and rotate your shoulders so that you begin pulling the rig across the stream」——此时「the soft hackle pattern on the point works its magic… the wet fly will flutter immediately below the surface」。

Daniel:「will usually hook itself due to the tension created during the swing so a hook set is usually not needed」;为防止暴力咬口断线,「keep your rod hand low to the water but break the wrist so the rod tip is angled upward… you don’t want your rod, line, and leader to form a straight line during the swing」。Triple Haul 把咬口手感描述为「a ‘tick, tick, tick’ followed by a solid pull」,此时的做法是「keep the fly line pinched to the cork and allow the fish to hook itself」。

(Sports Illustrated):「By definition, the water will be chock-full of boulders – some that you can see and some submerged – waiting to trip you up. If you step on a boulder, make sure you choose one protruding from the water – the subsurface ones tend to be pretty slippery.」

Troutbitten(Domenick Swentosky)的「sweet ride」原则——「There’s a sweet spot to every drift… a range — a distance — where the fly looks its best」;「once that’s through, give up on it. When the sweet ride stops — get off.」——在 pocket water 尤其适用,因为一天能打的口袋数量有限,而每个口袋的窗口只有几秒。 They position themselves in the river to control it with their rod tip or with slack line. And they set it all up to happen over the best trout in the river.」——把「最好看的那一段摆」安排在水里最好的那条鱼身上,而不是把整片水均匀地摆一遍。

Sexyloops(Viking Lars,丹麦河川)的理由很直接:「I almost always fish a floating line, because our Danish rivers usually have a lot of weed growth during the season, and a floating line gives good control in steering your fly around, past, even under weeds and in fact also over depth.」——浮线让你能把毛钩从草的上方、旁边甚至下方绕过去。

对于藏在水下草床上方的鱼,FlyAnglers Online(Neil)给的做法是绕到上游重新站位:「the best way to take a crack at a good fish holding in this tough spot (in my experience) is to move upstream a ways and approach stealthily back down to a casting position above this fish rigged with an appropriate wet fly. Use the downstream presentation to tempt this fish, swinging the fly over the submerged grass bed.」边界条件同样写清楚了:「if the water is too shallow or the grass is emergent, neither of these techniques will work.」——水太浅、或草已经长出水面时,这套不管用。

34.2 weedless

加州飞蝇(California Fly Fisher,Robert Ketley)整理了六种防草(weedless)改装,其中最通用的是八字胡结(mustache knot):「Cut about three inches of mono and bend it in the middle to create a V shape… Insert the mustache bend into the space between the eye and the knot. Hold the mustache so that it sweeps down in front of the hookpoint… Snip the two prongs so they terminate just below the hook point.」材料规格也给了:「For trout dries and nymphs on size 10-16 hooks, 4X tippet material works well. Choose 2X if you are fishing a heavier pattern, such as a hopper or streamer. If you are throwing lead-eyed flies, 20lb test mono…」

同族的另外三种:UV mustache(用 UV 环氧把 V 形单丝粘在结上,钩尖朝上 45 度由重力定型)、jig hook prong(在钩眼上再打一根单丝,像第二段前导一样向后扫过毛钩,号称「almost snag-proof, sinks fast, and can be bounced through areas many fly fishers can’t or won’t fish」)、twist tie(4 号以上的大钩用金属丝做防草罩)。

作者的论证值得完整引一遍:「very few coldwater fly fishers tie or buy weedless flies. For some reason, we have decided that losing flies is just the cost of doing business in a rough neighborhood.」对「weedless 影响中鱼」的反驳是:「you’ll miss the occasional soft bite with a weedless fly, but it happens less frequently than you might imagine and almost certainly less often than hooking the scenery.」

两条未核实的线索只记录、不采信:其一是钩尖朝上的钩型(如带 dumbbell eyes 的 Clouser、鳟鱼与茴鱼若虫常用的 jig hook)本身就更防挂(Ahrex 原页本轮未直接抓取);其二是一条商品说明转述的单钩优势——「significantly reduces weed snags, gives a cleaner jaw hook set, and allows a much faster, safer release」(来自检索摘要)。

(The Essential Fly,Andy Kitchener):「Rivers may require barbless, singles/doubles only, or restrict trebles/tube lengths. Always check local rules and fish-handling guidance.」

34.3 chalk stream:swing

英国白垩溪(chalk stream)的物理特征(Peaks Fly Fishing):全球仅约 200 条,其中「England holds about 85% of the world’s chalk streams」;三大特征是「Stable flow」「Stable temperature, typically around 10–11°C at source across the seasons」「Mineral-rich, alkaline water that grows rich weed beds, especially water-crowfoot (Ranunculus) — a keystone chalk river plant.」——流量稳定、水温稳定、碱水养出浓密草床。

Wide Open Spaces 说 swing「hasn’t changed much since it dominated the chalk streams of 19th century England」——它自 19 世纪主宰英国白垩溪以来几乎没变过。可是今天 chalk stream 的主流是逆流干蝇:Halford 在 19 世纪末「systematised the chalk-stream dry fly in the late 19th century, codifying upstream presentation… and giving the ‘dry fly only’ doctrine its spine」;直到 Skues 的若虫与 Sawyer 的 Pheasant Tail/《Keeper of the Stream》才打开了地下水层钓法(Peaks Fly Fishing)。

器材的用途差异要分清(Peaks Fly Fishing):chalk stream 用「12–15 ft tapered leaders, long tippets and degreased last inches」;竿用「8.5–9 ft rods in #4–5… 10ft rods have become more popular recently, allowing for casting above the fringe of marginal vegetation」。

Aardvark McLeod(Alex Jardine,2017 年 River Test/Avon 实测)给出了割草季的真实节奏:Test 的主割期「is coming to a close at the end of this week」;Avon 流域「The main cut starts on the Avon on Wednesday 14th June through to the 28th with the last two days used for clearing down any weed that has become hung up on its downstream path to the collection boom below Salisbury.」空间差异也被点出:「Weed growth in this area has once again proved to be patchy, areas with some gradient appear good while others areas with a more sedate flow are almost devoid of any weed at all.」天鹅的破坏则属于另一种不可控:「swans have all but obliterated any new growth… they do a huge amount of damage to the ranunculus weed beds on which the invertebrate life of the river so much depend.」不同河段的策略完全不同:Nadder 上「the river keeper at Compton Chamberlayne tells me he will not be cutting any weed at all this period」。

另外一条更古的忠告(挂到杂草或莎草时「don’t try to pull it off with a furious jerk. Instead, take the line quietly in hand and draw it gently away」)同样只有检索摘要转述,原书页未直接抓取,待核实,仅记录。

(Outdoor Canada,Scott Gardner):「When using weedless flies, be gentle when you’re in the danger zone. Remember, the purpose of a weed guard is to move the fly, not the obstacle. If the fly is next to an obstruction and you jerk it, the weed guard will do its intended job: compress and expose the hook. Instead, gently coax the fly over and through obstructions.」——防草罩是用来移动毛钩的,不是用来移动障碍物的;一扯,它就把钩尖让出来挂上东西。

同文的线组细节同样针对多草环境:「This is also a time to use knotless leaders, since every knot on your leader is something else for weeds to get snagged on.」

MidCurrent(钢头)「roughly forty-five degrees downstream」step-down 钢头
Outdoor Canada「cast 45 degrees down and across」
Wide Open Spaces「a little less than 45 degrees」并明确反对直角:「not straight across the current, but slightly downstream」
The Essential Fly(鲑鱼)「30–45° downstream」鲑鱼
Flylords90°「straight across the river. Perform two small mends…」

**MidCurrent 的调速问答给的正是耦合关系:「Casting straight across (90 degrees to the current) means more of your line gets caught in fast water, so the fly will swing faster.」以及「Casting more downstream at a shallow angle results in a slower swing, because less line is pulling in the fastest current.」

需要并列一处同一家内部的冲突:MidCurrent 的钢头文说「A steeper angle (more across-stream) slows the swing and lets the fly sink deeper — ideal for cold water below 42°F」,同内容在另一篇里写作「A steeper casting angle, more across the current toward straight out, swings the fly slower and sinks it deeper」;而它的调速问答却说越接近直角越快。

两条可以直接执行的原话:「if you want a slower, deeper presentation, cast more down-and-across; for a faster swing cast more directly across.」以及「Don’t worry about casting to the far bank every time; instead, cast to where you can control the swing effectively.」再叠上一条 MidCurrent 的通用纪律:「Vary your mend depth, adjust your angle to match changing current speeds within a run, and tighten your steps through prime holding water while moving briskly through featureless stretches.」

  1. mend。 上游 mend 减速、下游 mend 加速,「Make your mend early in the drift, right after the cast」(与 31.3 的取舍合并使用:早期一次,其余靠别的)。
  3. 走位(Move Your Feet)。 「If you wade a few steps farther out into the river, you shorten the line distance between you and the fly, which in turn slows the swing because the current has less line to pull on. If you are closer to the bank, you lengthen the line in the current and the fly will swing a bit faster.」——往前走变慢,往岸边退变快,与直觉相反但机制清楚。
(Reposition Your Rod Tip)。 「Reaching your rod tip out high and toward the center of the river (especially with a long rod) can slow the swing by reducing drag. In contrast, pointing your rod tip low and toward the downstream bank will put more line in the faster current, creating a downstream belly and speeding up the swing.」
  5. 领或随(Lead or Follow the Fly)。 「Keeping the rod tip trailing behind the fly… puts a touch of slack in the system and slows the swing slightly, often presenting the fly ‘butt-first’ to the fish. On the other hand, leading the fly (rod tip slightly ahead of the fly’s motion) will tighten the line and form a belly, speeding up the swing and presenting the fly more broadside to the fish.」——注意这里藏着一个姿态选项:跟着鱼走是「尾朝前」,领着走是「侧身」,而侧身通常才是我们想要的水层与姿态。

关于「要多均匀」,MidCurrent 给的目标是稳定而非极端:「Experienced swing anglers often strive for an even, steady swing speed through the drift, believing it maximizes the chances of a take. If your fly accelerates or stalls abruptly, it may put off fish.」实现方法是分段补偿:「making adjustments early in the swing (when the line is in faster mid-river currents) and then letting the fly speed up slightly in softer water at the end, so that the overall movement appears uniform.」

For each swing of a wet fly… there’s a range — a distance — where the fly looks its best.」 They position themselves in the river to control it with their rod tip or with slack line. And they set it all up to happen over the best trout in the river.」

鱼在 seam 的哪一侧,高水与低水给出的答案不同:MidCurrent 说高水时鱼停在「the inside seams of big bends」;The Essential Fly(Andy Kitchener)列出的鲑鱼停驻结构是「seams, tail-outs, pools, behind rocks, and deeper glides」。

长杆在 seam 上的价值有两处(Chagrin River Outfitters;MidCurrent):一是「mend line through complex currents while fishing from a fixed position」——不用挪步就能让线穿过复杂水流;二是竿尖位置本身可以「change the length of line exposed to the current」——竿一伸一收,就是一次调速。

(MidCurrent):「The only exception is when a fish flashes at the fly or you feel a bump — hold your position and give that lie another presentation with a different mend or a longer pause.」

  • MidCurrent:「When the fly completes its swing and hangs directly below you in the current, let it sit for three to five seconds before stripping in. Steelhead that followed the fly through mid-swing often commit at this moment, when the fly stops or flutters in slower water. Before recasting, make a few short strips or twitches — this final provocation converts followers into hookups more often than most anglers realize.」
  • The Essential Fly(Kitchener):「Hold at the dangle for 3–5 seconds, Take 1–2 steps downstream」——
  • Flylords:「tilt your rod in a manner to flutter and lift your fly into the money zone」。
  • The Triple Haul:「Most bites come while the fly is nearing the end of its swing or while I am holding it directly downstream of where I am standing」。

有一个被反复引用的数字:以 45° 起摆、摆到 hang-down,一次 swing 覆盖「roughly 1/8 of the circumference of a circle with radius equal to the cast length」,折算下来 60 英尺出线覆盖约 47 英尺水面、80 英尺出线覆盖约 63 英尺。
